1949-1969 World Series Film Collection (6)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,480.00
Now available for the collector's viewing pleasure.... six full reels of 35mm film that chronicle highlights of World Series action from days gone by. In the "old days," which weren't that long ago, this was the only way World Series highlights could be viewed. The films are presented on their original spools and are protected by their original custom tins. Precisely, these films include the Fall Classics of 1949, 1952, 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1969. The lids of two of these tins bear a label stating "American and National Leagues of Professional Baseball Clubs...Base Ball Motion Pictures...64 E. Jackson Blvd. Chicago 4, Ill." Herein, are the glory moments of famous fielding - Mays in '54, Martin in '52, Amoros' 1955 storied catch; in these reels is Larsen's perfect game, and innumerable other spellbinding moments in World Series competition. This is a time capsule of cinematic images from an earlier era which are rarely seen in any form, and can be enjoyed today just as when originally produced for release and distribution by Major League Baseball. It is very difficult for us to place a value on these films as we have seen so few trade, but as always we are confident that the marketplace will accurately value this rare collection. Total 6 films. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,480.00
