Circa 1900 to 1930s Vintage Rare Store-Model and Early-Style Bat Collection (22)

Fascinating collection of 22 store-model bat rarities ranging in year of manufacture from the turn-of-the-century to the 1930s (several may predate 1900). Included are three full-size player-decal bats (Cobb, Speaker, and Collins) and many extremely interesting and unusual models. These bats were collected by a gentleman who travelled primarily in antique-world circles, and who carefully assembled this collection of unusual bat rarities over many years. Includes: 1) Ty Cobb 40TC H&B "Georgia Peach" decal model bat with vertical batting image on decal (the decal has wear and chipping, but is approximately 80% complete, overall Good condition).2) Tris Speaker TS40 H&B decal bat with Speaker portrait (decal is 90% complete, a little dark, overall Vg condition).3) Eddie Collins 40EC H&B decal bat with Collins portrait (decal is 85% complete, overall Very Good condition). The three player-decal bats have been graded with reference to the decals; the actual bats are in Vg-Ex condition. 4) H&B bat with the centerbrand stamped "Burnt Oil Finish No 16" and a "Professional" decal on the barrel. 5) Spalding autograph model bat of Bud Hassett. The centerbrand decal reads, "Resilite, For Might, Case Hardened, Air Dried, Autograph, Spalding, Made in the USA." The end of barrel is stamped "Spalding, John 'Bud' Hassett, No 200." 6) Decal advertising bat for "Simmons Hardware." The centerbrand reads, "E.C. Simmons, Major League, American Trademark." 7) "A.J. Reach Co, Deluxe, No 125 Model A6." The A.J. Reach decal on the barrel is mostly worn away. 8) Stamped "Ideal 38" in the center with a decal on the barrel that reads, "Used By All Professional League." 9) Stamped "Estes' New York Crackajack." 10) Stencil in black on the barrel reads, "Esso The Giant of them All." 11) Stamp in the center reads, "No. 35, Georgia Cracker, Hanna MFG. Co. Athens, GA." 12) The center barrel is stamped, "Spalding All Star Model 6." 13) H&B bat with the centerbrand stamped "Burnt Oil Finish No 16" and "Professional" on the barrel. 14) Spalding bat with the centerbrand stamped "Pro-Finish, No. 250, A.G. Spalding & Bros, Oil Tempered, Made In Chicago" and the barrel is stamped "Marty McManus" in block letters. 15) Advertising bat stamped "Oshkosh Tools, MFR'D By Leach Company, Oshkosh, Wisconsin." 16) The center of the bat is stamped "Pontiac Turning Co., Trade Mark, Pontiac, Mich." with an Indian chief's head. 17) Spalding model bat stamped in the center with the Spalding trademark and the words "Wagon Tongue." 18) Stencil in black on the center of the bat reads, "Safnok, Made in USA." 19) Fungo bat with "D&M" and a dog stamped in the middle of the bat. "Fungo" is stamped on the barrel. 20) The center of the bat reads, "B.P.L. Peerless, Detroit 3." 21) Mushroom knob bat with "Wm Read & Sons, Trade Mark, Boston, Mass, 125BB" stenciled on the lower barrel. 22) Mushroom knob bat stamped "FDB" in the center of the bat. Fascinating variety of unusual bats representing many different styles and manufacturers from the 1900s to the 1930s. Overall in Very Good to Excellent condition. Total 22 bats. Reserve $1,000.
