Two 1920s Lady Liberty Figural Baseball Trophies

Two very attractive figural baseball trophies, each dating from the 1920s. The first features Lady Liberty leaning on a plaque with the image of a baseball batter in high relief. The figure stands seven inches tall with "TRIUMPH" inscribed on the base at her feet, mounted on a wood base (5 x 2.75 inches). Total height including base: 8.5 inches. The second trophy features Lady Liberty standing with her right arm raised holding a laurel wreath. The word "VICTORY" is inscribed on the side. The same plaque, featuring a baseball batter in high relief, is mounted on the front of the green metal base, below which is a plaque engraved "WON BY - BUSINESS MEN - 1930." "Lowe & Campbell Athletic Goods Co." is stamped on the reverse of the figure, as well as "Copyright USA" on base. The trophy stands 16.5 inches tall. Many art forms, including trophies, used various images of Lady Liberty as design elements during and immediately following World War I to symbolize patriotism, freedom, and liberty. These two pieces, each very striking for display, are exceptional and rare examples of baseball figural trophies utilizing the image of Lady Liberty. Both are in Excellent condition.
