Circa 1909 Forbes Field Clubs Cigar Box

"Forbes Field Clubs" cigar box is designed to hold approximately five cigars. These specially produced mini boxes of cigars may have been issued to commemorate the opening of Pittsburgh's Forbes Field in 1909, and were likely produced and distributed as favors at a special event relating to the new ballpark. The interior label features a magnificent panoramic photograph of a game in progress at Forbes Field, with all lettering in red. The box closes with a swiveling metal clasp attachment. "Forbes Field Clubs" is burned into the the top of the lid. This is a very unusual, rare, and extremely high quality tribute to one of baseball's most historic early ballparks, produced specifically to be a keepsake.
