1905 Home Run Cigar Box

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,624.00

Rare "Home Run" cigars wooden box features a very colorful label with an elaborate game-in-progess scene. It is very interesting to compare the artwork on the interior lid of the wooden cigar box with the very similar, though not identical, game-in-progress scene on the "Home Run" cigar cylindrical tin. This is a beautiful and very rare early baseball cigar box. It is copyrighted 1905. Minor imperfections include some minor bubbling of the interior label, and a very slight warping of the lid which is noticeable only in that the top lid does not close perfectly flat. These are very common flaws with early cigar boxes, and do not detract from the exceptionally impressive display value of the box. An exterior side label featuring a smaller version of the same interior label wraps from the side to the bottom of the box, and has considerable wear. Dimensions: 4.75 x 8 x 2.5 inches. Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,624.00
