1998 Mark McGwire Signed Original Lineup Card
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $580.00
Future Hall of Famer Mark McGwire has signed this official lineup card beneath his name in black felt-tip pen. The signature grades an "8" on a scale of "1 to 10." This is the original lineup card from the St. Louis Cardinals' June 5, 1998 game against the San Francisco Giants, during which McGwire hit home run number 28 , a 410-foot blast off Orel Hershiser, of his historic 70 home runs during the magical 1998 season, when he eclipsed Roger Maris' single-season home run record (61 home runs in 1961). This lineup card hung in the dugout and includes all of the handwritten changes by St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa. It is interesting to note that Barry Bonds (who now holds the single-season HR record) is listed on this very same lineup card as batting third for the Giants. This is a fascinating and unique historic artifact from this legendary season, directly relating to McGwire's historic record-setting season. The lineup card is in Nr/Mt condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $580.00
