Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris Signed Baseball Signed For Barry Halper

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $8,120.00

Extraordinary Near Mint to Mint, white Official American League (MacPhail) baseball with dark stampings has been signed by Mantle and Maris in blue ink. The Mantle signature on the sweet spot grades a "10," and the Maris signature on the side panel also grades a "10." The signatures have a very slight bleeding into the ball (common for balls from this era because of the chemicals used in the leather), which is mentioned for accuracy and does not detract from the boldness of the virtually flawless signatures. This ball was personally signed by Mantle and Maris for Barry Halper, and is accompanied by a fascinating letter from the legendary collector, which reads as follows: Dear Fellow Collector, This Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle autographed American League McPhail baseball is 100% authentic in all respects. This ball was signed personally for me by both Roger and Mickey. I will always remember an interesting story regarding the signing of this ball which always somehow captured Roger's humble and respectful nature for me. When I asked Roger to sign the ball and told him I would be having Mickey sign it later, Roger was clear that he would only sign the side panel, insisting that he had to leave the sweet spot for Mickey. I always remembered that and wanted to be sure to pass that story along with the ball. I hope this ball, signed by two of the greatest Yankee legends of all time, brings as much joy to you as it has to me for so many years. Sincerely, Barry Halper. It would be hard to top this Mantle/Maris signed ball for quality, condition, or provenance. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $8,120.00
