1952, 1953 & 1954 Topps Archives Set Collection (7 Sets + 5 Unopened Boxes)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $696.00

Since 1983, Topps has produced several different reprint sets of its classic early 1950s baseball card sets. The traditional 1952 baseball card set was the first of these very high quality "reprint" sets. At the time of issue, the 1952 commemorative set was available only as a complete boxed set with a retail price of about $40. Topps introduced their "1953 Archives" set in 1991, and the "1954 Archives" in 1994. These sets are very popular with collectors, because they are official Topps issues, they provide a relatively inexpensive alternative for card collectors to enjoy the classic Topps issues from the early 1950s, and because their slightly smaller size and style of manufacture is different from the originals, they cannot be confused with originals. Offered is a collection of Topps reprint collection sets and unopened boxes: 1) Two complete 1952 sets: both are in the original issue box, one box is mint and unopened, the other has the original seal broken with a few tears on the box with Mint cards inside. 2) Three complete 1953 sets: all Mint condition. Plus three unopened cello boxes (with some minor edge wear, otherwise Excellent condition), each with 36 Mint unopened packs inside (total 108 packs). 3) Two complete 1954 sets: one regular and one gold foil set, both Mint. Plus two unopened boxes (20-ct and 24-ct) with original cellophane wrapping (total 44 packs). Both unopened boxes are Mint. This "Archive" collection is loaded with Hall of Famers and stars, including Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Warren Spahn, and many more. These are a great value and it is easy to see why collectors enjoy these sets so much. Total 12 items (7 sets plus 5 unopened boxes). Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $696.00
