1933 Goudey #36 Tommy Thevenow PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $9,860.00
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. One of only seven examples graded at this level with none graded higher. In 1926, Thevenow was the starting shortstop for the Cardinals' first World Series championship; he batted .417 in the series with ten hits including a home run and four RBIs. The offered card is extremely bright and crisp, and presents a strong image of Thevenow that really jumps off the orange background. Centered very slightly to the bottom right (approx 52/48), this card is bright and clean, with sharp corners, and perfect registration. We have found that the auction selling prices of cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than SMR, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets such as 1933 Goudey. Solid Nr/Mt-Mt example. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $9,860.00
