1925 Pittsburgh Pirates Cameo Theatre Advertising Card
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $928.00
This team composite advertising card (5 x 5 inches) for Cameo Theatre of Pittsburgh ("Fifth Avenue, Downtown") features twenty-eight portraits of the 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates, including Hall of Famers Pie Traynor, Ki-Ki Cuyler, and Fred Clarke. This extremely rare card (we have seen only one other example) is all the more interesting in that the image featured is the very same as appears on the extremely rare large-format 1925 Pirates easel-back celluloid button that is among the most impressive of all baseball celluloids. The reverse of the card advertises both the 1925 World Series and the first exclusive showing at Cameo Theatre of Lon Chaney's The Phantom of the Opera opening on October 31, 1925 ("Two Great Events in Pittsburgh"). Printed by "Meyer Press, Pittsburgh." Sturdy card stock. Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $928.00
