1966 Topps Ugly Buttons Artwork and Uncut Proof Sheet
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $696.00
Produced by Topps in 1966 specifically for sale during the Halloween season, the "Ugly Buttons" series features artworks of monsters accompanied by amusing titles. The issued "Ugly Buttons" were tin lithographic pinbacks, measuring two inches in diameter. Offered is an original artwork and uncut proof sheet to the series. This set is highly regarded by collectors both because of the exceptional quality of the artwork and its representation of the 1960s low-brow cultural monster-art craze. The full-color original artwork (5.5 x 5.5 inches) for the "Give Me A Great Big Kiss!" button is in flawless Near Mint to Mint condition. "Ugly Button" original artwork is extremely rare, and this is an ideal example. The uncut "Ugly Buttons" proof sheet features the entire 24-pin set and is in Mint condition. The sheet measures 21 x 24 inches and is framed (Plexiglas) with "Topps Vault " label to total dimensions of 26 x 30 inches. Total 2 items (artwork plus sheet). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
