1959-1970 Non-Sport Valentine Parody Card Collection (1,070)

From the late 1950s through the 1960s, cards with designs spoofing valentines, with the irreverent and humorous sensibility of Mad Magazine, were extremely popular on playgrounds throughout the country. Many were illustrated by top artists who also did work for Mad, such as Jack Davis. This collection of 1,070 non-sport cards and 149 unopened packs all relate to the valentine parody genre, and include representation from eight different issues from 1959 to 1970: 1) 1959 Topps "Funny Valentines": Four complete sets of 66 cards each plus 382 assorted cards (with 65 different) and one five-cent wrapper. 2) 1960 Topps "Funny Valentines A": Unopened display wax box with 36 packs, one extra display box with 14 unopened packs, two complete sets of 66 cards plus 158 assorted duplicates (with 62 different). 3) Circa 1960s Topps "Valentine Stickers": Five-cent display box with two wrappers. Vg condition. 4) Circa 1960s "Funny Valentines" Giant Size: Three unopened five-cent wax packs. 5) 1963 Topps "Valentine Foldees": 134 assorted cards with 46 different. 6) 1970 Topps "Valentine Foldees": Unopened display wax box with 48 packs plus 18 five-cent wrappers. 7) 1970 Topps "Valentine Postcards": Counter display box with 47 out of the 48 packs plus one wrapper. 8) 1971 Topps "Nice or Nasty Valentines": Unopened wax pack in Ex condition. The cards in this collection range in grade from Vg to Nr/Mt-Mt condition, averaging Ex-Mt overall. From the Macaluso Collection.
