1961 James Brown and Dick Clark Signed American Bandstand Contract

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $406.00

Ooowww! You'll feel good... if you are winning bidder on this fantastic American Bandstand performance contract signed by "The Godfather of Soul," James Brown, and Bandstand producer Dick Clark. This standard engagement form is between Clark's Click Corporation and Brown to perform on October 19, 1961 at WFIL-TV studios in Philadelphia for a fee of $155.00. The document is signed at the lower left, "James Brown" as "Performer" in green ink, and at the lower right by "RW Clark, pres." as representative for Click Corporation in blue ballpoint. Both signatures are virtually flawless. Brown has also added his social security number in the appropriate space. The legendary James Brown is second only to Elvis Presley with 116 Billboard charted singles, clearly earning the title of "Hardest Working Man in Show Business." In October 1961 he was most likely appearing on Bandstand to perform his #2 R&B hit "Baby You're Right." Dick Clark began his career as a radio DJ in 1952 at WFIL and moved to television in 1957 with his American Bandstand program, which soon became must-see viewing for teenagers everywhere for the next thirty-five years. A unique rock-n-roll document signed by two of the genre's living legends at the height of their popularity. From the American Bandstand archives. Normal filing punch holes. Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $406.00
