1950 Eva Peron Signed Photograph
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $1,044.00
"Don't cry for me Argentina," and don't cry for us either as we have the honor of offering this beautiful signed professional studio presentation photograph of the beloved Eva (Evita) Peron (1919-1952). This classic black and white studio portrait (6.5 x 9 inches) captures the beauty and grace of Argentina's most popular First Lady. It is affixed to a white mount (9 x 14 inches) as made that contains the script-style printed inscription, "Al buen amigo y leal peronista Manuel Scotto Rosende/con gran afecto/Buenos Aires, Octobre 10, de 1950/del Librtador General San Martin," and is signed in the lower right "Eva Peron" ("7/8") in blue ballpoint. To this day Eva Peron remains one of the most admired women in Argentina. From humble beginnings she ventured to Buenos Aires in 1935 hoping to become a famous actress. Ten years later she met Minister of War Juan Peron and the couple was quickly married. Eva became a driving force behind her husband's political career, and when Juan was elected President in 1946, Eva used her position to become a powerful advocate for the poor, women, healthcare and education. Eva Peron died in 1952, less than two years after this photo was taken. Her life has been immortalized in the play and feature film Evita (the latter starring Madonna) and she continues to be an enduring figure representing justice and compassion to the world and in the country she loved. Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad & John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,044.00
