1992 Davey Allison Signed Daytona 500 Race-Used Tire
Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $1,044.00
Presented is an actual tire used by racing legend Davey Allison during the 1992 Daytona 500. This Goodyear D-4224 Eagle radial was the right rear tire used on car #28 (Allison's car) when it crossed the finish line in victory at the Daytona 500 on February 16, 1992. The tire is still mounted on the rim and stands on a metal base. The tire is signed "Davey Allison #28 - Daytona '92" in gold paint pen on the sidewall of the tire, and also signed by Allison's crew chief, Larry McReynolds. Both signatures grade an "8/9" overall. After Allison wrecked his primary car in practice, the 28-man crew worked around the clock on a back-up car named "Buster." Their hard work paid off. Running a patient race pace, under crew chief Larry McReynolds guidance, Allison lead all but five of the final 102 laps for a victory in the 34th annual Daytona 500. With the win, the Allisons became the second father-and-son winners of the 500, joining the Pettys. Accompanied with a COA signed by Davey Allison and Benny Parsons (former NASCAR driver and ESPN race analyst). This is a significant museum-caliber NASCAR showpiece, which would be the centerpiece to any bar, sports room, or serious NASCAR collection. Due to the extremely large dimensions and weight (88 lbs) of the tire, the shipping charges for this piece (depending on where it is sent and method of shipping) may be substantial. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $1,044.00
