Circa 1981 Pete Rose Autographed Mizuno Pro Model Bat
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $696.00
This rose-colored Mizuno signature model R3631 bat is flawlessly signed "Pete Rose" ("10") in black Sharpie on the barrel. A round red sticker with a silver colored cup appears on the knob end. These unique rose-colored bats were made by Mizuno specifically for game-use by Rose during the early 1980s. However, these brightly colored bats saw little game-use as complaints about the visual distraction they created resulted in Commissioner Kuhn banning their use in Major League games. Rose did, however, make good use of his supply of the bats, signing and giving them as gifts to friends as keepsakes. This bat is in extraordinary Mint condition and has remained in the collection of award-winning sports photographer Bob Bartosz since the day it was given to him by Pete Rose. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Bob Bartosz. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 34.5 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A7. LOAs from Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic, Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence, Steve Grad, John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $696.00
