1973-1975 Frank Robinson Pro Model Bat

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $580.00

This Hillerich & Bradsby model R182 bat displays evidence of heavy game use with several ball marks and deadwood along the barrel. The handle is cracked (approx. 7 inches) and has a heavy coat of pine tar. The player number "4" is written on the knob end in black marker, suggesting that this bat was actually used by another player, as Robinson wore number "20." It was not an uncommon practice for players at times to use the bat of another player during the season. Frank Robinson is the only player to have been named MVP in both leagues. One of the most feared hitters of his day, Robinson retired with a lifetime average of .294 with 586 home runs. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1982. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 34.5 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A5. LOAs from Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic and John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $580.00
