1888 N172 Old Judge Harry Wright

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $6,380.00

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. 1888 N172 Old Judge portrait of Hall of Famer Harry Wright. Magnificent example of one of the rarest of all Old Judge Hall of Famers. 1888 copyright date. There are three different poses of baseball Harry Wright in the Old Judge set, as manager of the Philadelphia Nationals. All are portraits. Each is extremely rare. The offered example is bright and perfectly clean, both front and back, with just a touch of wear to the very sharp corners. The photograph is a little light, a characteristic which is common to most N172 Harry Wright cards. The card has a strong Excellent appearance, but very close examination reveals that it has been downgraded by SGC to Vg-Ex due to a couple of very light photo surface wrinkles which are likely minor manufacturing flaws. These are not creases but just a couple of surface wrinkles. The card is otherwise in Excellent condition. This is an outstanding example of one of Harry Wright's few baseball cards, and one of the most important cards in the Old Judge series. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $6,380.00
