Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $4,060.00
Hillerich & Bradsby signature model S2 is signed "Eddie Mathews" in black Sharpie to the left of the barrel stampings with the signature grading an "8" overall. The bat exhibits considerable game use including ball, stitch, and cleat marks. Mathew's player number "41" is written on the knob end in black marker. Several depressions are visible on the back of the barrel. Mathews was one of the great power hitters of his era. During the 1950s he combined with Hank Aaron to form one of the greatest slugger tandems in the history of the game. Mathews helped lead Milwaukee to two pennants and one World Championship during his fifteen years with the club. He is one of only twenty players to hit 500 or more home runs during his career, retiring with 512. This is a magnificent Mathews game bat dating from his final four seasons in the majors, the years in which he approached and reached the magic 500 home run plateau. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 32 ounces. SCD Authentic Grade: A7. LOAs from Dave Bushing/SCD Authentic, Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence, Steve Grad, John Taube & Vince Malta/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000.
