1969 Topps "Slob Stickers" Original Artwork
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $460.00
Offered is the original artwork (3-5/8 x 4-7/8 inches) for Slob Sticker #19, which was issued both as "Hot-Head Frank" and "Hot-Head Howie" from the 1969 Topps "Slob Stickers" series. This unusual sticker set, which is reminiscent of Topps' Ugly Stickers series, is credited as being the forerunner to the Topps Garbage Pail Kids set of the mid-1980s. In fact, the Slob Stickers set was introduced in court by Topps in their legal battle with Cabbage Patch Kids, to show that they first used the concept of issuing stickers with the same artwork, featuring different names. There are only 44 different designs in the set, each issued with two different names. Included with the original artwork are both versions of the finished stickers. The original artwork is in Near Mint condition. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$700. SOLD FOR $460.00
