Original cover art to Creepy #19, by Vic Prezio, published in March of 1967. Prezio's distinctive style defines early Warren cover art for many collectors. This is a terrifying painting, which in-person, uncropped, appears all the more like an unholy demon portrait, and perfectly at home on the cover of Warren's Creepy magazine. The small gun-toting figure in the doorway of the background clearly does not know what he's getting into. It is unlikely that his tiny gun will be of much use against this powerful, hideous creature. With this hanging on your wall, hopefully no one will mistake it for a member of your family (for your sake). This cover painting will never be mistaken for a Vanity Fair or Saturday Evening Post cover, but this is what a Creepy cover should look like! This painting has tremendous impact, and is a magnificent example of Warren cover art. It is also the cover to a particularly well known and early issue of Creepy. Measuring an impressive 17 x 22.5 inches on board, the painting is beautifully framed, in flawless condition, and is accompanied by a pristine file copy of the issued magazine. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $1,610.00
