1969 Jimi Hendrix Signed Receipt
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $3,162.50
Offered here is a cash receipt signed by Jimi Hendrix dating from February 6, 1969, just six months before his groundbreaking appearance at Woodstock, on official Jeffery & Chandler letterhead. Mike Jeffery and Charles Chandler (of "Jeffery & Chandler") managed Jimi Hendrix's career starting in 1966, representing both him and his band, and masterminding Jimi's commercial success. Because of his early death, as well as his nomadic lifestyle, authentic Jimi Hendrix signatures are extremely rare. This is an ideal example, of rare unquestionable authenticity, on an official document from the files of his management company. The document (8 x 10 inches, with two filing punch holes along the top) is signed with a flawless, particularly bold, large purple ink signature, "Jimi Hendrix" ("10"), verifying his receipt of $1,200 in cash from Jeffery & Chandler employee Kathy Eberth. From his jaw-dropping performance at the Monterey Pop Festival, to his swift decline from drugs and overwork, Hendrix was a meteor whose star shined far too briefly, and whose groundbreaking work continues to influence musicians and thrill fans to this day. An extraordinary signed document from this immortal Rock legend, dating from the prime of his musical genius. There are a few light stray pen marks in three of the four corners, and a staple hole along the top border, otherwise in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad and John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $3,162.50
