1965 John Lennon Signed and Inscribed Book
Starting Bid - $800.00, Sold For - $6,900.00
Signed copy of John Lennon's second published work of art and poetry, A Spaniard In The Works. Published in 1965, this 5.5 x 7-inch hardcover features Lennon on the cover, and displays his cynical, dark, biting sense of humor on every page. The front flyleaf is signed, "To George/May your cottage never/fall down may you always/breath A.I.R. May I have/the next dance?/Thank you from the bottom/of my Rubber Soul and my/plastic leg/lots of musicians/From your/Uncle John )("9")." "(Lennon)" has been added in parentheses beneath the signature "Uncle John", in small script at the bottom of the page. The book was a gift from Lennon to Beatles producer George Martin. This signed volume represents a tremendous vintage example of John Lennon's handwritten prose and signature, and is all the more significant due to its reference to the then just released Rubber Soul album. Overall the volume is very well maintained, with a tight binding and clean, crisp interior pages, the only imperfection being some small wear marks on the cover from normal handling. A fantastic, very unusual and personal gift signed and inscribed by John Lennon, to a significant member of the Beatles inner circle at the peak of their fame and success. Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence, Steve Grad and John Reznikoff/PSA DNA. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $6,900.00
