Bobby Jones Vintage Signed & Inscribed Original Photograph

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,162.50

Legendary golfer Bobby Jones signed and inscribed this original 8 x 10 inch black and white photograph to his secretary as follows, "For Mary King, An asset to our office of importance in inverse proportion to her physical displacement. With affectionate regards, Bob Jones" ("8") in blue fountain pen. This is an exceptional vintage Bobby Jones signed photo, both in terms of the quality of the actual photograph, and the significant and personal quality of the salutation. Considered by most to be the greatest golfer ever, Jones designed the Augusta National Golf Club and was a cofounder of the Masters Tournament. Among his many feats, Jones accomplished what many felt impossible, winning all four majors in the same year, 1930 (the U.S. and British Opens and their respective Amateur Championship events), only to retire immediately afterwards. His impact on the golf world was far from over, as he co-founded the Masters Tournament in 1934. The photo has a few small creases, which are not immediately apparent and do not significantly detract, but which can be seen when viewed at the proper angle. The creases do not affect any part of the signature or inscription. The photograph is otherwise in Excellent condition. The photo is beautifully and very expensively framed and matted to dimensions of 15.25 x 17.5 inches. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,162.50
