1981 Michael Jordan Signed High School Yearbook

Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $2,875.00

1981 Laney (N.C.) High School Yearbook features numerous pictures of Michael Jordan as a high school student, and is beautifully inscribed and signed in the Varsity Basketball section by Jordan to a fellow classmate in the long-standing tradition of graduating high school students. Jordan has signed in a large white margin on the ideal page, one featuring three pictures of himself as a Laney High Buccaneer. The inscription reads, "Steve (White Jock), It has been a pleasure having you in my classes. Good luck at N.C. State and please come and see the rivalry between our two colleges U.N.C. Tarheels, Michael Jordan" ("9/10"). The handwriting is extremely neat, in black ballpoint. This was soccer player Steve Garrett's yearbook, and the book includes numerous other inscriptions and signatures from classmates to him. In addition to the multiple shots in the Basketball section, Michael also appears in a three-piece suit in the Seniors section, on page 200 executing a slam dunk, and again in the Baseball team photo. Overall the book is in exceptionally fine condition. The binding is tight, and the pages are clean and intact, with the only imperfection being wear at the edges of the hardcover from normal handling. A fascinating, and extremely early, personal signed keepsake from the greatest basketball player of all time. Excellent condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $2,875.00
