1961-62 Fleer Basketball Complete Set (66)

Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $5,175.00

Extraordinary Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (includes just a few cards Ex to Ex-Mt) complete set of this significant basketball issue. The 1961-62 Fleer basketball set is one of the very few basketball sets issued during this era. Included are many rookie cards of key Hall of Famers including Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Roberston, and Jerry West. This is an incredible factory-fresh high-grade set which appears to have been assembled directly from wax packs. We have selected four key cards to send in for grading by PSA. #8 Wilt Chamberlain recieved a grade of NM-MT 8 by PSA. The other three cards (#3 Baylor, #43 West, and #66 West IA) were each graded NM 7 by PSA, and in our opinion each of these cards could have easily qualified for a grade of NM-MT 8. This is a beautiful set. Centering, which is usually a very significant problem with this issue, is exceptional (virtually all within 30/70 both ways), and many cards with virtually perfect centering, including the four PSA-graded cards. Keys: #1 Attles (Ex), 3 Baylor RC (PSA NM 7), 8 Chamberlain RC (PSA NM-MT 8), 10 Cousy (70/30 T/B otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 22 K.C. Jones RC (70/30 L/R otherwise Nr/Mt), 23 S. Jones RC (70/30 T/B otherwise Nr/Mt), 36 Robertson RC (70/30 T/B otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 38 Russell (70/30 L/R and T/B otherwise Nr/Mt), 43 West RC (PSA NM 7), 44 Wilkins RC (70/30 T/B otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 47 Chamberlain IA (70/30 T/B and L/R, one horizontal print line, otherwise Nr/Mt), 61 Robertson IA (70/30 T/B otherwise Nr/Mt), 62 Russell IA (70/30 T/B otherwise Nr/Mt), 66 West IA (PSA NM 7). Total 66 cards. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $5,175.00
