1910 Philadelphia A's Souvenir Glove
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $690.00
Reach miniature leather baseball glove of unsurpassed quality and detail was produced as a souvenir for attendees of a special dinner held in honor of the Athletics. Stampings on the palm read "Testimonial Dinner To World's Champions October 27th 1910. American Baseball Club of Philad'a" above the Reach logo. The A's had just wrapped up the World Series, winning the fifth and final game against the Cubs in Chicago on October 23, 1910. The dinner at which this glove was given was just days later, and part of the festivities celebrating the Athletics' victory immediately upon their return to Philadelphia. The glove is of incredibly soft high quality two-tone leather construction, with webbing between thumb and forefinger, and complete with functional celluloid button on wrist strap. If this glove wasn't a miniature, literally the size of a salesman's sample at only 4.5 inches in height and only 2.75 inches across at the wrist, it would be a top-of-the-line professional quality model. Fascinating even without the significant connection to the A's, this is a small but very captivating display piece which invites attention and handling as much or more than many larger items. In Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $690.00
