Roger Clemens 300th Win/4,000th Strikeout Signed Game-Used Ball

Starting Bid - $1,500.00, Sold For - $4,600.00

On June 13, 2003, the Yankees Roger Clemens reached two significant career milestones at Yankee Stadium. "The Rocket" became only the 21st pitcher in baseball history to win 300 games, and only the third pitcher in the history of the game to reach the 4,000 career strikeout mark. (Only Nolan Ryan and Steve Carlton had achieved this milestone previously.) Rarely, if ever, have two such important career milestones been achieved in the same contest. Offered is a spectacular MLB (Selig) ball used during that memorable game. The ball, which features the special New York Yankees "100th Anniversary" stamp on a side panel, has been inscribed, "Roger Clemens - 6/13/03 - 300 W's/4,000 K's" (grading "9"), in blue ink across the sweet spot. Accompanied by a two-page letter from the Director of Sales & Marketing of PC Richards, who was in charge of store grand openings and player appearances, who obtained the ball directly from Clemens in a trade for electronics goods. Also accompanied by a copy of the Federal Express shipping label from when the ball was sent from Clemens to complete the trade. The ball is moderately soiled, displaying appropriate and ideal game use. It is an exceptional example, with outstanding provenance, of one of the most sought after of all game-used baseballs. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $4,000/$6,000. SOLD FOR $4,600.00
