1977 Paul Blair NY Yankees Game-Used and Signed Home Pinstripe Jersey

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,450.00

This classic Yankees home pinstripe jersey was game-worn by Paul Blair during the 1977 season. This is a particularly significant year for Blair. Blair won eight Gold Gloves during his 17 seasons in the Major Leagues, but will always be remembered for his game-winning hit in the 12th inning of Game 1 of the 1977 World Series. In the neck of the jersey is a white label reading "Blair 77 1" in blue chain stitching. The letters and numbers denote the player name, year, and set number, respectively. On the left front tail is the "Wilson" label with the size, "42." On the left breast is the "NY" logo and on the back is the player number "2." Both the logo and number are made of blue tackle twill, which has faded from wear. Blair has signed and inscribed the jersey "Paul Blair, 1977 New York Yankees Champions" ("7" to "8") in black ink below the "NY" logo. We are confident that this is the actual jersey worn by Paul Blair in Game 1 of the 1977 World Series but can only offer the jersey as "attributed" to 1977 World Series use because the original Paul Blair letter which once accompanied the jersey has been lost. Included with the jersey is a photocopy of Blair's original handwritten letter which reads: "This is to verify that I wore this NY Yankee uniform in the 1977 World Series game 1 when I produced the winning run, Paul Blair." The jersey shows excellent game use and has no alterations. LOAs from Dave Bushing & Dan Knoll/SCD Authentic and Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500/$2,500. SOLD FOR $3,450.00
