1968 Detroit Tigers Team-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $805.00
Official National League (Cronin) ball is signed by 24 members of the 1968 Detroit Tigers. The mostly blue ink signatures include Denny McClain (sweet spot), Al Kaline (sweet spot), Eddie Mathews, Norm Cash, Mayo Smith (clubhouse signed opposite sweet spot on identity stamp), Don Wert, Mickey Lolich, Ray Oyler (clubhouse), Mickey Stanley (clubhouse), Jim Northrup, Jon Warden, John Hiller, Wayne Comer, Don McMahon, John Sain, Pat Dobson, Tom Matchick, Daryl Patterson, Earl Wilson, Fred Lasher, etc. The signatures are strong throughout, ranging in grade from "8" to "10." Led by Denny McClain and his unbelievable 31 wins and 1.31 ERA, the 1968 Detroit Tigers won 103 out of 162 regular season games to finish first in their division. They met the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, which the Tigers won in a dramatic seven game series. This is an extraordinary example of one of the most desirable and rare championship team balls of the era. Most of the 1968 Tiger team balls offered are from reunion signings, and are not vintage team-signed balls, as is this pristine, ideal, vintage example. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $805.00
