Frank "Home Run" Baker Signed In-Action Photo

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,450.00

Incredible in-action photograph (7.5 x 10 inches) of Hall of Famer Frank "Home Run" Baker in mid-swing is flawlessly signed "J. Franklin Baker" in bold black ink along the top ("10"). The placement of the signature against the white of the sky provides ideal contrast. This is a particularly exciting and unique image with tremendous detail. The photo has a few small creases in the lower right, a small slice into the background (less than 3/4 inch in length) which goes through the photo but presents as a crease, a tiny border tear along the left border, and "Baker" written in pencil in the lower left border. A few editor's notes and a Brown Brothers credit ink stamp appear on reverse. Despite flaws noted for technical accuracy, the photograph actually presents beautifully, with an overall approximately Excellent appearance. One of baseball's great early sluggers, Baker hit a total of 96 home runs in 13 Major League seasons. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1955 and died in 1963. This is an extremely striking, rare and unique signed photograph of Frank Baker with a perfect signature. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,450.00
