1933 All-Star Game Photograph Grove and Hubbell

Extraordinary original United Press Association wire photograph (7 x 9 inches) of Carl Hubbell and Lefty Grove at the 1933 All-Star Game. Hubbell is wearing his special "National League" uniform made specifically for use in the first ever All-Star Game. The original caption is still attached, dated July 6, 1933, and referring to the game as "The Game of the Century." Editor's notations ("All Star Game") appear in red along the top border and on the reverse ("44, 1/2 page"). The large United Press credit stamp appears on the reverse. When this photo was taken, no one knew that the Game of the Century would soon become one of baseball's most celebrated traditions. The photo is in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. Reserve $200.
