1913 NY Giants Mackinaw Jackets Advertising Poster
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $1,495.00
Extremely rare 1913 advertising poster measures an impressive 19 x 22.5 inches and features the entire New York Giants team wearing their "Original and Genuine Mackinaw" warm-up jackets. Players include John McGraw, Christy Mathewson, Jim Thorpe, Wilbert Robinson, Larry Doyle, Fred Merkle, etc. All players are numbered and identified. The caption at the top reads "The N.Y. Giants in their new Patrick-Duluth Mackinaws, Taken at Marlin, Texas." The poster is copyrighted "F.A. Patrick & Co. 1913" in the lower left. This photograph was taken during spring training in 1913. The Giants would go on to capture the pennant in that year. This advertising poster is extremely attractive and an extraordinary rarity. This may be the only example known. The poster is printed on a thin paper stock and has some small creases and very minor restoration. Lightly mounted on a thin board for preservation and easy framing. Technically the poster is in Very Good condition, but if framed would have an Excellent appearance. All advertising posters from this era featuring baseball players are extremely rare; this is a particularly interesting and unusual example. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,495.00
