Circa 1950 Jackie Robinson Single-Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $1,000.00, Sold For - $10,350.00
Off-white "Official League Ball" is magnificently signed on a side panel by Jackie Robinson in black fountain pen. The signature grades a strong "8" on a scale of "1 to 10." This spectacular signature example dates from early in Robinson's career (late 1940s to early 1950s). Single-signed Jackie balls in any condition rarely surface. This is the finest we have ever seen, not just because it is a stellar signature example on an extraordinary and clean ball, but because it is a period signature dating from his early playing days. Even on team balls from the era, Jackie Robinson's signature is often a "clubhouse" signature. Single-signed balls from this era are virtually nonexistent. This is the finest early example we have seen. The ball has a very tiny, shallow puncture hole near a ball stamping, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy, and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. All manufacturer stampings are bold and clear. An absolutely stunning Jackie Robinson single-signed baseball, worthy of the finest collection. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $10,350.00
