1934 DeLong Gum Company Stock Certificate
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $460.00
Original fully executed stock certificate for the DeLong Gum Company, dated September 8, 1934. DeLong Gum was named after Harold C. DeLong, a former Goudey employee who left to start his own competing gum card company. DeLong's dreams may have been great, but the DeLong Gum Company managed to put out only a single 24-card set during its short operating existence. Very little, aside from cards, exists relating to DeLong Gum, which makes this stock certificate an extremely rare and unusual prize. The stock certificate is made out to George W. Wilson in the amount of 200 shares, at a value of $10 per share. Harold C. DeLong has signed the certificate twice, once as President, and once as Treasurer, though both signatures have been neatly crossed out, possibly as part of the process of retiring the shares. The reverse is signed by George Wilson, and dated Nov. 3, 1945. This is a fascinating relic of gum card collecting history, directly relating to Goudey and DeLong. To the best of our knowledge this is the only known DeLong Gum Company stock certificate. The stock certificate has two neat vertical filing folds and a staple hole top center, and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $460.00
