1889 N43 Allen & Ginter Morrell
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $3,450.00
Spectacular super high-grade sample from the scarcest of the Allen & Ginter Champions sets. This sample features John Morrell, captain and first baseman of the Boston Nationals. N43s feature the same subjects and designs as the smaller N29 second series Allen & Ginters, but in a larger format and with extra artwork complimenting the larger design. Measuring approximately 3 x 3.25 inches, the large format N43 Allen & Ginters are widely recognized as one of the most attractive sets ever issued. This is an incredible sample from this popular set, featuring one of the six baseball players in the series (the other subjects in the set feature stars from other sports). In virtually flawless condition it has perfect colors, bright and crisp with sharp corners. It is rare to find any card from this era in such high grade. Graded NM 84 by SGC. We believe this to be a conservative grade, as we grade this card slightly higher at Near Mint to Nr/Mt-Mt condition.Reserve $400. Estimate $1,500/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,450.00
