1943 Campanella Photograph and Monterrey Team Postcard

Magnificent original portrait photograph (5" x 4") of Campanella in a Marianao uniform in 1943-44, the only year he played in the Cuban Winter League. Photographers stamp ("Novoa") in lower right. Photographers stamp, printed photo caption, and production notes relating to publication on reverse. Excellent condition. Accompanied by an extraordinary real photo postcard of the 1943 Monterrey Mexican League team, including Campanella, with identification in white lettering in the foreground. Traditional postcard reverse. Incredible photo quality with flawless contrast and tremendous detail. Perfectly clean front and back. Vg-Ex due to minor corner wear and a small corner creases. Campanella played eight seasons in the Negro Leagues with the Baltimore Elites before joining the Brooklyn Dodger organization in 1946, where his 10-year major league career was cut short by a tragic car accident following the 1957 season that left him paralyzed.
