1939 Mexican All-Star Game Team Photographs

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,035.00

Two original photographs, each measuring 7 x 11 inches, featuring the opposing 1939 All-Star teams of the Mexican League. This was the first Mexican League All-Star game. The Mexican League became very prominent in the late 1930's, with the arrival of Negro League players from both the U.S. and Cuba. Included in these photographs are Cool Papa Bell, future HOFer Chet Brewer, American Negro Leaguers Andy Porter and Johnny Taylor, and Cuban stars Lazaro Salazar and Ramon Bragana. Both photos have white lettering text identifying the team, date (August 29, 1939), and player names as part of the design, along with the photographer's name in the lower right. Very minor imperfections include some very light foxing and a small surface scrape on one photograph, overall in Very Good to Excellent condition. These photographs originate from the family of Negro and Mexican League star Ramon Bragana. Both photographs are beautifully matted and framed together in a single display to total dimensions of 11 x 27 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,035.00
