Tremendous collection of baseball wrappers from the 1930s, the golden age of the bubble gum card. Included are several extreme rarities, such as the 1935 R332 Schutter-Johnson wrapper, the 1937 R342 Goudey Thum Movies wrapper, the 1938 Goudey Heads-Up wrapper proof, and 1941 Double Play. Carefully assembled one at a time by a longtime hobbyist, included in the collection are the following, in order of year of issue: 1933 Goudey Sport Kings (common style, Ex-Mt), 1933 Goudey (white wax paper type, Ex), 1934-36 Batter-Up (rare 1c "Batter" type, Ex), 1934-36 Batter-Up (common style, Gd), 1934-36 Diamond Stars (2, blue and yellow type, Ex), 1935 R332 Schutter-Johnson (Ex), 1937 R342 Goudey Thum Movies (Ex-Mt), 1938 R323 Goudey (proof example, never folded, from the Goudey find of 1969, with tiny staple holes from filing by Goudey, otherwise pristine Nr/Mt, the ideal example), 1939 Play Ball(Ex-Mt), 1940 Play Ball (Gd-Vg), 1941 Play Ball (green style, Ex), 1941 R330 Double Play (Vg-Ex), and 1941 R324 Goudey (Ex). These 14 wrappers together represent an extraordinary advanced collection of early baseball card gum wrappers, with an uncommon concentration of rarities. Overall in very high grade, especially with reference to the key rarities of the collection. Total 14 wrappers. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $3,450.00
