1910 S74 Baseball Tobacco Silks Collection (46)
Starting Bid - $400.00, Sold For - $4,312.50
70% range from Ex to Nr/Mt, 30% slightly lesser (appearing Ex or better, but downgraded due to virtually undetectable perimeter thread holes). 40 different players plus 6 color variations. This collection is comprised entirely of the slightly larger "colored" S74 silks, including 13 HOFers. The majority of silks having little to no fraying to the edges, all featuring the factory number along the top and the cigarette manufacturer along the bottom. Highlights: Cobb (Nr/Mt), Speaker (Ex-Mt), two Fred Clarke (both Ex), two Bresnahan (1 Ex, 1 Vg-Ex), Marquard (Ex-Mt), two Mathewson (1 Ex, 1 Vg-Ex), Johnson (Ex), Baker (Ex), Griffith (Nr/Mt), Chance (Vg-Ex). Very attractive collection of these 1910 era tobacco silks, which may represent the best value of all 1910 era baseball tobacco issues, including many key stars, highlighted by a very sharp example of key silk Ty Cobb. Total 46 silks. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $4,312.50
